Shiraz Roses, Paris Lights

My first EP with 3 songs: Persian, French and bilingual. A small journey between Hafiz's Shiraz and Piaf's Paris.

Hello, my name is Nahal. I come from Shiraz, now I live in Paris. Since I am young I love music, but also poetry, books, and photos. Shiraz and Paris, they are both cities of poets, of roses, of wine, of history. In Shiraz I walk in gardens of Hafez, in Paris I walk near Seine where writers wrote their novels. Sometimes I feel I carry two worlds inside me.

This EP is my way to bring these two cities together. It will be 3 songs: one Persian, one French, and one bilingual. The Persian song is about Shiraz, about memories of home, gardens, roses, voices of poets. The French one is about Paris, with lights, with love, with loneliness of student life. And the bilingual one is like my heart itself: it cannot choose, it sings in both.

When I sing, I think of wine in poetry. In Shiraz, we have the name of the wine and the roses, always with poems of Hafez. In Paris, the wine is also here, in cafés, in chanson music, in Edith Piaf singing about love. Both cities speak with the glass, with the pen, with the song. I want my music to taste like this — a little sweet, a little bitter, but always alive.

I am student, I don’t have big money. I write my songs at home with my guitar and small microphone, but I want them to sound true, beautiful, professional. For this, I need to rent a studio in Paris. The cost is 400 Euro. It is not much, but for me it is big step. With this I can record my 3 songs in good quality and share them with world.
